UCC medical graduate Henry Arnold Gyamfi wins 10 awards at 58th congregation

Dr (Med) Henry Arnold Gyamfi has emerged as the overall best graduating medical student at the 7th session of the 58th Congregation of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), held for graduates of the College of Health and Allied Sciences.

Dr Gyamfi was the highest awardee of the session, securing 10 out of the 27 awards presented at the School of Medical Sciences, following an exceptional academic performance throughout his medical training.

Among the honours he received were Best Student in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Best Student in Paediatrics and Child Health, Best Student in Community Medicine, Best Student in Radiology, Best Graduating Student in Internal Medicine and Therapeutics, and Best Graduating Student in Neuroscience.

He was also named Best Graduating Male Medical Student and Best Graduating Clinical Student, and clinched the Vice-Chancellorโ€™s Prize for Overall Best Performance, the highest honour awarded at the congregation.

Dr Gyamfi is a former student of T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (Real Amass) in Kumasi.

Speaking in an interview after the ceremony, he expressed gratitude to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the support he received through the Otumfuo Education Fund, which financed his medical education at UCC.

He noted that the support played a critical role in his academic journey and encouraged young people to remain committed to their goals despite challenges.
