Reception staff said Herman Lee, who they said sees patients at the clinic a few days a week, is out of the country and not due back until mid-April.
A small sign posted at the desk suggested Lee has been regularly seeing patients at the clinic. It advised that “when all advance appointments with Dr. Herman Lee are fully booked for Wednesday and Saturday, patients may visit the clinic after 9 a.m. on those days to request a same-day walk-in slot.”
Lee, a Vancouver resident, is out on bail.
Staff at the clinic were bewildered to hear the VPD’s Tuesday announcement and, reached by phone, the CEO of the clinic also said he was caught off guard.
“We just found out this morning. I had no knowledge of this and am in shock. It feels like being hit by a bus,” said Arshia Bivadi, CEO of Downtown Radiology and the Keefer Medical Clinic.
