A widow has sued an MRI clinic after an MRI machine fatally sucked him in. Adrienne Jones-McAllister, 61, is launching legal action against Nassau Open MRI after her husband Keith McAllister, 61, died in a freak incident, according to court documents. Keith accompanied his wife to the New York radiology office while she received an MRI of her knee on July 16, 2025. McAllister had been wearing a “large metallic chain” around his neck that led to him being “drawn into” the MRI machine, according to the complaint. Adrienne “witnessed and was totally aware through all of her senses” as her husband sustained his injuries and suffered until he died the following day. Adrienne claimed her late husband’s death was a result of the clinic’s “negligent, wanton, reckless and careless acts.” The claim argued this was due to the office allowing “dangerous, hazardous and/or unsafe conditions to exist,” according to the filing. It added they failed to inform Keith about the hazards of keeping his chain on and allowing him inside the MRI room. Adrienne said her late husband’s death left her suffering “severe and serious personal, psychological and emotional injuries to her mind and body,” according to the complaint seen by People . She claimed the injuries she sustained following the incident included pain, disability and loss of body function, and that she needed to cover the costs. She is now seeking an undisclosed amount of damages that a jury would find “fair, adequate and just.” Adrienne previously recalled her husband’s death in an interview with News 12 Long Island, stating he suffered multiple heart attacks and that he “went limp in my arms.” Adrienne and an MRI technician reportedly tried to free Keith for several minutes before police were alerted, according to a GoFundMe created by her daughter Samantha Bodden. When authorities arrived, Adrienne remained stuck to the machine for “almost an hour before they could release the chain from the machine.” Samantha Bodden, Adrienneโs daughter, claimed: “Several news stations are saying he wasnโt authorized to be in the room when in fact he was because the technician went and brought him into the room.” Shortly after Keith’s death, Adrienne said: “I havenโt been able to sleep, Iโm barely eating. I just canโt believeโฆIโm just trying to wrap my head around the whole thing.” Nassau County Police Department said at the time: “The male victim was wearing a large metallic chain around his neck causing him to be drawn into the machine, which resulted in a medical episode.”
