MLA Flags CT Scanner Failure at RIMS

Adilabad: Adilabad MLA Payal Shankar on Thursday urged health minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and the principal secretary for Health to convene a special review meeting on the functioning of RIMS and the Super Speciality Hospital in Adilabad. After inspecting the hospitals, the MLA expressed concern over poor sanitation, staff shortages and the non-functioning CT scanner, which, he said, had been out of service for the past 15 days. Payal Shankar visited various departments, including the radiology department, and interacted with department heads and RIMS Director Jai Singh Rathod. Addressing the media, he alleged that the agency responsible for maintaining the CT scanner had failed to carry out repairs despite its contractual obligation. He said patients were being forced to undergo CT scans at private diagnostic centres at considerable expense and urged the government to improve facilities at RIMS, which caters largely to poor patients. The MLA also pointed out that only two personnel were available against the required six for maintaining the CT scanner and called for immediate recruitment to fill the vacant posts. BJP leaders Jogu Ravi, Ganta Jeevan, Aditya Satish and Gangadhar accompanied him during the inspection.
