Oncology care centre opened in Chennai

Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), on Monday, inaugurated the Sri Ramachandra Centre for OncoCare to provide integrated oncology services under one roof, a press release said.

The oncology centre was inaugurated by E. Hemanth Raj, surgical oncologist and executive vice chairman, Cancer Institute (WIA), in the presence of V.R. Venkataachalam, chancellor, SRIHER.

Dr. Hemanth Raj stressed the need for doctors to spend time with cancer patients, listen to their concerns and offer emotional support and also highlighted the importance of communicating effectively with patients’ families. He noted that the Cancer Centre registry would be integrated with Sri Ramachandra’s database to facilitate collaborative research and enhance patient care.

The Centre for OncoCare unites the departments of surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, haematology, and paediatric oncology along with specialised support from pathology, radiology, nuclear medicine, pain and palliative care, rehabilitation, and psycho-oncology to provide multi-disciplinary care under one roof.
