At a time of peak air pollution in Delhi and Mumbai, drugmaker Cipla has launched a Breathefree Lung Wellness Center in New Delhi.
This will be an integrated lung diagnostics and wellness centre with advanced standardised lung diagnostics, affordable for doctors and patients across the country, Cipla said.
โRespiratory diseases have been on the rise in India, with millions remaining undiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to limited access to advanced pulmonary function testing and comprehensive diagnostic infrastructure in the respiratory domain,โ the drugmaker said, adding that the lung centre is designed to be a one-stop solution for comprehensive lung health diagnostics.
The centre will provide a comprehensive gamut of over 60 tests covering lung physiology, microbiology, immunology, blood chemistry and radiology, the company said, adding that the aim was to diagnose diseases including Asthma and COPD to more complex ones such as interstitial lung diseases (ILD).
Highly-trained technicians
Tests including spirometry, oscillometry, FeNO, DLCO, body plethysmography, FnNO, CPET, X-Ray and CT scan, sleep studies, etc, will be conducted by highly-trained technicians to eliminate errors and inconsistencies. The centre would also provide pulmonary nutrition and rehabilitation services, and counselling for smoking cessation, it said.
Achin Gupta, Cipla Global Chief Operating Officer, said, that by expanding its presence across the care continuum, the company aimed to transform lung health diagnostics in India by making standardised lung diagnostics accessible to healthcare professionals and patients, ultimately improving respiratory health outcomes.
Jaideep Gogtay, Cipla Global Chief Medical Officer, pointed out, โIndia is estimated to have over 90 million people with chronic respiratory diseases.โ
Early and accurate diagnosis is crucial for physicians to initiate appropriate treatment for their patients, reduce the risk for hospitalisation and improve the quality of life, he added.
