Home Minister V. Anitha inaugurated the National Mid-Term Scientific Conference organised by the A.P. and Telangana Chapter of the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR) at Hotel Novotel in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

The three-day scientific meeting will bring together leading Interventional Radiologists from across India to discuss the latest advancements in minimally invasive image-guided treatments, share evidence-based best practices, and further enhance patient safety and procedural outcomes.

Speaking on the occasion, ISVIR Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Chapter Senior Interventional Radiologist and president, Dr. Balaji Patel Kola said, “Interventional Radiology is redefining the future of healthcare by enabling the treatment of many diseases without major surgery. By bringing together experts from across the country, we aim to exchange knowledge, discuss best practices, and ensure that patients receive the safest and most effective minimally invasive treatments. Through our public awareness walkathon, we also hope to educate people that many conditions once requiring surgery can now be treated through image-guided procedures with quicker recovery and better outcomes.”

ISVIR Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Chapter secretary Dr. Jignesh Reddy said that this conference provides an excellent platform for Interventional Radiologists to learn from each other, discuss recent advancements, and further strengthen evidence-based clinical practice.

The organisers said that as part of the conference, ISVIR will organise a Walkathon for Interventional Radiology Awareness to educate the public about the benefits of minimally invasive image-guided treatments. The walkathon will be flagged off by MP Mathukumilli Sribharat along with Commissioner of Police, Shankhabratha Bagchi. The walkathon aims to spread awareness that many diseases can now be treated without major surgery through Interventional Radiology.
