KUWAIT: Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital held an awareness event on Wednesday to promote early detection of breast cancer, as part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event, held under the slogan “Specialties working together… for her” in the hospital’s main lecture hall, was organized by the Council of Radiology and Radiotherapy Departments in coordination with the National Program for Early Detection of Breast Diseases.

It was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services Dr Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, who chairs the committee for the early detection of breast diseases that oversees the national program, and Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr Al-Munther Al-Hasawi.

Also present were Jaber Hospital Director Dr Nada Al-Hassan, Director of the Department of Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases Dr Wafa Al-Kandari, Ministry of Health spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad, and hospital directors, department heads and medical staff from hospitals and primary healthcare centers.

Dr Buthaina Al-Kandari, head of the Council of Radiology and Radiotherapy Departments, said the event aimed to strengthen coordination between the specialties and health teams involved in early detection of breast cancer.

She said joint work between radiology and radiotherapy services, the national program and primary healthcare centers helps women access screening and assessment through integrated care pathways.

Raising awareness of early detection encourages women to get screened, learn about the services available and visit health centers when needed, she said, stressing the importance of continued coordination to improve the quality of care.
