
A total of 16,16,517 individuals have benefited from 1,076 Nalam Kaakum Stalin health camps conducted across Tamil Nadu so far, said Health Minister Ma. Subramanian here on Saturday.
After inspecting a camp at the Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School in Ponmalaipatti, Tiruchi, along with Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Mr. Subramanian said the initiative had received a good response across the State.
In Tiruchi district, 35 camps were held and 54,454 people (19,807 men and 34,647 women) benefited from it. Of them, 2,563 were referred to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) for treatment. About 4,825 expectant mothers benefited from the camps.
Diagnostic services included ECHO tests for 4,245 individuals, ECGs for 33,005, and X-rays for 1,430. A total of 993 persons received treatment under the health insurance scheme while Unique Disability Identity (UDID) cards were issued to 1,526 persons with disabilities.
Speciality services were provided with 3,636 treated in the ENT department, 4,331 in dental care, 1,850 in orthopaedics, 1,220 in neurology, 599 in psychology, 2,385 in dermatology, 1,387 in paediatrics, 1,480 in radiology, 6,077 in cardiology, 1,288 in pulmonology, and 2,451 in physiotherapy. A total of 926 people underwent surgeries, including 315 eye surgeries. A total of 5,745 people received treatment under AYUSH. A total of 167 people were screened for tuberculosis, of whom five tested positive.
Mr. Subramanian said that new buildings, including hospitals, health centres, and other infrastructure projects worth โน358.46 crore across the State, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin via video conferencing on February 6. He said the new โน135-crore super-speciality block at MGMGH would soon be opened to the public.
The Nalam Kaakum Stalin camps have concluded in Ariyalur, Kanchipuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Ranipet, the Nilgiris, Theni, Tirupattur, and Vellore districts, he added.
