Packers fan can expect normal October weather for the Cowboys game

The Green Bay Packers will highlight the Packers vs. Cancer campaign during the Oct. 18 game against the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field.

Throughout October, the Packers partner with UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center to raise awareness for all cancers and support cancer research. Fans will receive a Packers vs. Cancer Roll-a-Banner. The game will incorporate game entertainment elements that honor cancer survivors and their loved ones. This is the 10th year of Packers vs. Cancer.

The Packers play the Cowboys at 7:20 p.m. Oct. 18 in a “Sunday Night Football” game.

Normal October weather expected for Cowboy’s game

Sunday’s forecast by the National Weather Service is sunny with a high near 63 during the day. At night, the forecast is for partly cloudy and a low of 45. Those are average temperatures for mid-October.

Green Bay Metro offers four free shuttle routes, with buses leaving to and from Lambeau on the half-hour from 3 to 6 p.m. and again from the end of the game until 11:30 p.m. Routes to Lambeau Field run from Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport, downtown De Pere, downtown Green Bay, the far east side and points in between.

Lambeau Field is 4.4 miles from the airport and 3.4 miles from downtown Green Bay.

What is the parking availability for the Cowboys game?

There is abundant neighborhood parking available during Packers games.

Parking in the Lambeau Field lots generally is sold out or close to it, but street parking and parking at neighboring homes and businesses is available.

Street parking is free, but drivers are advised to note posted gameday parking restrictions, especially in Ashwaubenon.

The cost for parking in neighbors’ yards or in business lots is generally between $20 and $40, depending on proximity to the stadium.

Tailgating allowed in Lambeau parking lots

Tailgating is allowed anywhere in the Lambeau Field parking lots, and in a number of private lots surrounding the stadium. The center of the tailgating universe at Lambeau Field is in Lot 1 on the east side of the stadium, near the Oneida Nation Gate, although Lot 10 on the southwest side ramped up its game in recent years.

Lambeau Field rated one of best stadiums in NFL

Lambeau Field routinely ranks as one of the best stadiums in the National Football League.

USA Today Network’s “For the Win” once again ranked Lambeau Field as the best stadium in the league. Staff members offered first-hand experiences for 29 of the 30 NFL stadiums and ranked them with the admittedly subjective criteria of general atmosphere, design, location, amenities, food, character and โ€” of course โ€” the stadium itself. Theyโ€™re all key factors in the overall game-day experience.

“Lambeau Field remains every bit the old school experience you want it to be, rising from the suburban grid of Green Bay to welcome NFL pilgrims to its hallowed grounds. Between the history of the Hall of Fame and the frigid aluminum bench seats that freeze your Leinenkugels in the can each December, itโ€™s perfect roughneck football. Go Pack Go,” wrote reporter Christian D’Andrea.

In the USA TODAY Readers Choice awards, Lambeau Field was ranked the fifth-best stadium. It ranked sixth for best stadium food.

The Big Lead, a sports and pop culture blog, ranked Lambeau Field, said Lambeau Field was number two, behind Seattle’s Lumen Field. The blog said, “Lambeau Field remains one of the most important places in American football … Modern additions have kept the stadium useful without taking away its history. The Lambeau Field Atrium, Packers Hall of Fame and massive video boards add comfort and convenience. Tailgating remains a huge part of the experience, with nearby residents even renting out their lawns for parking.”

How to watch or listen to the Packers-Cowboys game

The game is on NBC. Announcers will be Mike Tirico on play-by-play, Cris Collinsworth providing color analysis and with Kaylee Hartung reporting from the sidelines.

Fans can listen to the game on the Packers radio network, whose flagship station is WRNW-FM, 97.3 in Milwaukee. In Green Bay, WIXX-FM, 101.1, carries the game. Wayne Larrivee and Larry McCarren will call the game.

What’s the Lambeau Field carry-in policy?

The Packers’ carry-in policy limits items that can be brought into the stadium and how they can be carried.

On the no-go list are bags, backpacks, coolers, strollers, umbrellas, duffel bags, large purses, noisemakers of any kind, fanny packs, food and beverages, selfie sticks, video cameras and still photo cameras with lenses over 12 inches.

What is allowed are clear bags not exceeding 12-by-6-by-12 inches or a 1-gallon, clear plastic bag, additional clothing, blankets, small clutch purses the size of a woman’s hand, small cameras, binoculars and cellphones if carried loosely or in an approved clear bag.

The Green Bay Police Department offered this information: “Officers are continually turning away prohibited bags and items at the gate that will slow the lines down and cause fans to return (items) to their vehicles or discard the prohibited items.”
